Hoan Kiem's dining scene skews heavily Vietnamese and tourist-facing Western, which makes Aalishan Indian Restaurant a genuine outlier. Holding a 4.7 rating across more than 1,400 Google reviews, it draws a loyal crowd of South Asian expats, Muslim travellers, and locals seeking something outside the usual Old Quarter rotation. The kitchen operates as a Halal-certified establishment — a practical rarity in central Hanoi — and spans both North Indian and Middle Eastern preparations, covering the range from slow-cooked curries to grilled dishes typically absent from the neighbourhood's menus. The address on Hàng Thùng puts it a short walk from Hoàn Kiếm Lake, accessible enough to land on itineraries without feeling like a tourist trap. The review volume alone signals consistent repeat business rather than one-time visits driven by novelty. For diners observing Halal dietary requirements, options in this part of the city are limited enough that Aalishan fills a specific gap rather than competing on the same terms as the surrounding Vietnamese restaurants. The rating has held across a substantial number of reviews, suggesting the kitchen maintains a reliable standard rather than peaking around an opening buzz.

This place has amazing food, it's actually better than most of punjabi restaurant in India. Also they make their own paneer. What more can I say. Also they didn't ask me to write this review.

Best place for Indian veg and non-veg food in Vietnam ❤️ I had been searching across so many places in Vietnam for good Indian food, but nothing matched this place. Honestly, this restaurant doesn’t just serve food — they serve love and warmth with every dish. From the moment you enter, the staff welcomes you with genuine smiles and makes you feel comfortable like family. Their hospitality is truly one of the best things about this place. The service is super quick, and the food arrives fresh and hot. The taste is absolutely amazing 😍 Every dish is full of rich flavors, freshness, and authentic Indian taste. Whether veg or non-veg, everything we tried was delicious and perfectly cooked. You can actually feel the quality and care in the food. The atmosphere is also very clean, hygienic, and peaceful with no unpleasant smell at all, which made our dining experience even better. I kept coming back here continuously during my stay in Vietnam because I genuinely enjoyed it so much. I even brought friends from other countries here, and they all loved this place too. Without a second thought, just go for it. Highly recommended ✨

My first impression with the restaurant is that it carries this cozy atmosphere of a family-owned restaurant where everything is designed to let the food take the center stage. Me and my girlfriend ordered 5 dishes in total plus a yoghurt as a dessert. We knew Indian food would be boldly flavored, but I wasn’t prepared for how good everything actually was. It maybe just me but i think the naan leaned a bit too chewy for my taste. I’d prefer it slightly crispier or softer, but it’s a minor thing. Highly recommended for families and couples seeking an approachable yet authentic dining experience from the owners and chefs who are Indian themselves.

We arrived to have tea at 330pm but end up snacking. Very nice Onion pakodas, masala tea and paneer roll made to specs by the owner. Suitable place for vegetarians..

Great food with ample amount of serving. The biryani was particularly delicious. The breads were outstanding.
