I used to shop here regularly during Lunar New Year more than 10 years ago. Their bánh chưng was famously delicious, and their Vietnamese cold cuts were always in high demand. This year, I came back right before Tết. The line was quite long, but it moved quickly. The shop itself is small and a bit narrow. The staff are now the younger generation of the family — polite, friendly, and very efficient. There’s a price list and QR codes posted on the wall, although some items (like giò bê – Vietnamese veal sausage) are not yet listed. Only giò bê (veal sausage) and giò xào (Vietnamese head cheese) are available in both 500g and 1kg portions. Other types of Vietnamese pork rolls are sold only in 1kg sizes — perhaps just for the busy Tết season (I’m not sure about regular days). In the days leading up to Tết, bánh chưng is freshly boiled every day, so you can feel confident buying very fresh cakes. Parking note: The shop is located in the Old Quarter, where sidewalks are very narrow. If you come by motorbike, there’s space for only about 10 bikes at most. Some customers may need to park partially on the street. For now, I purchased the bánh chưng for ancestral altar offerings, so I haven’t tasted it yet. I’ll update my review after trying it.
