I think the best indian food in hanoi. The hospitality can be improved though. We were just 2 people but wanted to sit upstairs. The Indian waiters were fine with it but the vietnamese waiter didnt allow despite the entire upstairs being empty (around 20 tables) and serviceable. We had to wait until they cleared their conflict which took around 5-10 mins I paid using QR and after payment i asked them is everything alright, the waiter said yes and we left the restaurant. After 5 minutes the waiter ran towards us and asked for payment. When i showed him the statement, he took a pic and left. Pretty weird

MAAZI Old Quarter - Indian restaurant in Hanoi
Về Địa Điểm Này
On the edge of Hoan Kiem's most-walked streets, where Đường Thành meets Hàng Bông, MAAZI Old Quarter has accumulated one of the stronger reputations of any non-Vietnamese restaurant in Hanoi — 7,548 Google reviews at 4.8 stars is not incidental. It sits in a neighborhood saturated with pho counters and bun cha stalls, which makes a modern Indian kitchen here a genuine outlier rather than a calculated niche play.
The Old Quarter address is both an asset and a context. Hoan Kiem draws the broadest cross-section of any district in Hanoi: expats, domestic travelers from other provinces, and foreign visitors who orient everything around the lake. A restaurant sustaining this review volume in that environment has to clear a high bar for consistency, because the turnover of first-time diners is relentless and repeat business from locals must fill the gaps.
Modern Indian — as opposed to the buffet-style or curry-house format familiar from regional chains — suggests a kitchen working with the base spice logic of the subcontinent but applying it with more plated precision. In Hanoi specifically, Indian food occupies a small but loyal niche; the city has fewer options than Ho Chi Minh City, and a restaurant that performs this well on review volume is likely absorbing demand from across the north.
The Hàng Bông address puts it within a short walk of Hoan Kiem Lake, St. Joseph's Cathedral, and the denser accommodation cluster of the Old Quarter, making it a practical choice for anyone already spending an evening in the district.

We had such a great experience at Maazi. The food was absolutely delicious, and every dish we ordered was full of flavor. The service was excellent from start to finish, especially Palash, who was very attentive, kind, and made us feel welcome throughout our meal. He checked on us regularly and gave great recommendations. We really enjoyed our dinner and would definitely come back the next time we’re in Hanoi. Highly recommended!
This was the third Maazi we went to, after the ones in Ho Chi and Da Nang. It was not the food taste we expected after liking it in the other two places. The Bhaji in Pav Bhaji was sweet for no reason, the Dahi (curd) used in any dish including cucumber raita for Biryani, sweet lassi, or the salted lassi was stale and one can tell it with the sour taste of it. The Biryani was sweet too and no one makes it like that unless mentioned by the guests. At one point we felt like only the Coke there was tasting good. Irrespective of how busy the staff was, they need to understand that the taste has to be maintained.
Restaurant Maazi is a wonderful restaurant. We ate here two times, and the food was incredible both times. We had no error with the waiters and especially our waiter aman made sure we enjoyed our food and gave us a good time! If we go back to Hanoi we will definitely eat here again
Had a wonderful dining experience at MAAZI Old Quarter. The prawn biryani was absolutely delicious, flavorful, perfectly cooked, and one of the best meals I had during my stay. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. A special thanks to Aman and Lama for their exceptional hospitality and attentive service. They were friendly, professional, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. Highly recommend this place for great food, excellent service, and a memorable experience. Will definitely visit again!
