Absolutely fantastic place, beautiful outdoor seating, attentive staff. Meeting the original owner came to have a chat, which was great to hear the story of Chao Ban! Great value set menu. Disclaimer: You got a free dessert for this review, but I genuinely believe it's 5* for what I had. They only asked for a review, not for 5*. The other Chao Ban on alley 98 is not real, don't go there! Michelin is in the process of being updated
The meal was beautifully presented, with every dish looking appetising the moment it arrived. Flavours were very well balanced, neither too strong nor too mild. Everything was flavourful, fresh and genuinely enjoyable. Special shout-out to the grilled BBQ pork. The portion was huge, easily enough for two people, and the meat was surprisingly lean without being dry. Nicely grilled, juicy and ridiculously satisfying to chew. I actually chewed so much that my mouth started getting sore after a while... in a good way 😂 The clams were refreshing and aromatic, while the vegetables and spring rolls rounded out the meal nicely. 10/10. Would definitely be back again ✌🏾
The pork rib was a standout fall of the bone tender and packed with deep, savory flavor. Curious to see if the Michelin recognition was justified, I can confidently say it absolutely lives up to the hype. The meal continued beautifully with a wonderfully flavorful pork spring roll, which offered a perfect crispy contrast. To finish, I indulged in the caramel crème a rich, sweet ending that satisfied every sugar craving. An exceptional dining experience from start to finish.
This place was fabulous and delicious. It's giving fine dining vibes but not fine. Dining pricing which is always appreciated. The lunch special is a killer deal. Although, you'll probably have to buy another drink. Still completely worth it. It's a very nice place to have a very nice dinner at a reasonable price. And the service is excellent. They could stand to be a little bit more attentive because they are in another room while you're eating. There was a big table seated nearby and they had to keep getting up to get the server. Large tables need more attention than small tables. But they're quick to get you what you need, the food comes out fast and they are very professional.
Loved every moment at this Michelin-starred restaurant. The food was exquisite, the staff incredibly warm and attentive, and the environment cozy yet elegant. A perfect fine-dining experience that still feels comfortable and welcoming.
