Chợ Nom sits on Ngô Quyền in Hanoi's French Quarter, a short walk from the lake and the dense foot traffic of Hoan Kiem's tourist core — yet the 4.9-star average across more than 760 reviews suggests a room that earns repeat visits from locals rather than one-time passersby. The name anchors the concept: 'chợ' means market, and 'nom' points toward nộm, the Vietnamese category of fresh herb-and-protein salads dressed with fish sauce and lime. That framing sets a tone — informal, produce-forward, rooted in everyday Vietnamese eating rather than the elevated tasting-menu register that some French Quarter addresses chase. The Ngô Quyền address puts it among colonial-era shophouses, and the French Quarter dining scene here skews toward visitors looking for refinement; a market-concept restaurant that holds a near-perfect rating in that environment typically does so by being sharply consistent and honest about what it is. Hoan Kiem has no shortage of options promising 'authentic' Vietnamese food to first-timers, but the review volume here points to a place that has built genuine word-of-mouth. Without a full menu in hand, the specific draw is harder to pin down than at venues with scraped dish data — but the signal from the rating alone is unusually strong for this neighborhood.

Recommended by our Hotel, and, for good reason. Location, food variety, ambiance and staff were first class. Absolutely enjoyed our first dinner in Hanoi at NOM. We returned for dinner for our last night in Hanoi, only to find that they were closed. The manager intervened and gave us a table and we had our goodbye Hanoi dinner. Absolutely, brilliant service. Thank you NOM. I will be back in October 2026.

Nom is such a welcoming restaurant. The service is excellent, and the food is delicious. They showed us how to properly eat our banh xeo. We also had a delicious green papaya salad and grilled fish with dill. The menu is extensive, and lots of locals were also eating here. We will definitely be back!

The restaurant is spacious and airy, with a nice covered outdoor seating area, which makes it very comfortable to dine in. The menu is not very extensive, but it offers enough variety. The food is served quickly and everything is clean and well-organized. As a local, I can tell that some dishes have been slightly adapted to suit foreign tastes, so it’s not 100% authentic Vietnamese cuisine. However, I still appreciate the effort and attention to detail the restaurant puts into its food and service. The fried spring rolls are especially good and quite authentic — definitely worth trying. The staff are friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall pleasant experience.

Have a great dinner in this restaurant nearby my hotel. Love the ambiance, the Vietnamese food (so authentic), and the live music! I really appreciate Liyen’s full assistance when we needed to understand the menu considering we are not eating pork. She speaks English fluently which was helpful. Thank you, Nom.

I have to say, I’m really impressed with this place. The food was way better than I expected, and I love the flavors—it’s truly authentic Vietnamese food. As for the chè, we absolutely loved its light and nutty sweetness.
