I have no words to describe this lovely experience. The food is really amazing, but believe me when I say you not paying for the food, you paying for the experience, and the most heartwarming service I never had before in my life. The owner is so friendly and has a true life experience to share, all the team is amazing, this place makes me have some trust on humanity. I wish no war in this world and no children suffering the consequences 🥹 💯 of 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Katze - Vegan restaurant in Hanoi
이 장소에 대해
Cầu Gỗ sits at the edge of Hoan Kiem Lake, one of the most trafficked corridors in the Old Quarter, where the default dining options skew toward grilled meat skewers and tourist-facing pho. Katze occupies a different register entirely — a fully vegan kitchen that has accumulated 3,245 Google reviews at a 4.9 average, a signal of sustained execution rather than novelty. That rating, sustained over thousands of visits, suggests a kitchen that has figured out something most plant-based restaurants in Vietnamese cities haven't: consistency at volume without drift toward blandness.
The Hoan Kiem address makes it accessible to visitors staying near the lake or exploring the 36 guild streets, and the vegan focus draws a cross-section that doesn't typically share the same table in this neighborhood — long-term expats, health-conscious Vietnamese diners, and travelers looking for a break from the surrounding street food density. In a district where 'vegetarian' often means tofu substituted into standard dishes, a dedicated vegan concept operating at this review volume occupies real space.
What the numbers can't fully convey is the specificity of the offering — but the rating consistency across a large sample implies the kitchen has clear point of view rather than a catch-all menu designed to offend no one. For anyone spending time in Hoan Kiem, Katze represents one of the few dining decisions in the area that doesn't require hedging.
리뷰
This place is a must try in Hanoi, simple yet delicious cuisine. The story of the restaurant and its owner is very inspiring. Everything is fresh and vegan/vegetarian based. The owner is extremely kind and portions are very generous. Likely the best food place I tried while traveling Vietnam.
Tucked away in a quiet little alley in Vietnam, Katze Vegetarian Restaurant was honestly one of the best surprises of the trip. From the moment we sat down, the experience felt warm and welcoming. The restaurant may be hidden, but the food absolutely deserves to be discovered. The serving portions were incredibly generous, and they even gave us extra sides for free. Every dish that came out looked fresh, colorful, and full of flavor. From the crispy spring rolls to the tofu dishes and the huge basket of fresh herbs and vegetables, everything tasted authentic and satisfying. The flavors were light yet rich at the same time — perfect for vegans and anyone who enjoys fresh, healthy food. What made the experience even better was how the staff took the time to teach us the proper way to eat the dishes, combining the herbs, noodles, sauces, and vegetables together for the best flavor. It made the meal feel more personal and memorable. The prices were surprisingly affordable for the amount and quality of food served. Great taste, huge portions, kind service, and a cozy hidden atmosphere — Katze is truly a hidden gem for vegetarian and vegan food lovers in Vietnam.
Wow! This was an incredible first meal in Hanoi, and certainly won’t be our last one here! The food was delicious and so fresh and SO filling! We were well looked after here being served a free side dish with each meal we ordered. Honestly we had to refuse being offered more because we already felt ready to be rolled out the restaurant! The owner has an amazing story and the restaurant supports street kids’ education. We had the ribs in pepper sauce and the fried chicken and garlic water spinach. Also not pictures were the fresh spring rolls we were taught how to roll and enjoy! The final picture is of the various tables left full of empty plates after families had enjoyed a delicious meal! Vegans and meat eaters alike should all have this on their Hanoi itinerary!
Firstly, I could not believe how much food I got. Let alone how good it was. The owner was very kind and showed me the right way to eat the food, and then kept bringing more parts of the dish. Absolutely beyond worth it. Didn’t know until chatting with other people in there how renowned this spot is but it’s unsurprising. As far as vegan food goes anyway it’s got brilliant options, and the best spring rolls I’ve ever had. Also, the owner’s story which he shares is just another way it feels like you’re being welcomed into someone’s home, to know their life. Kindness isn’t necessary for good food, but it sure helps. Thank you, and good luck.
