We tried the restaurant because it was the only one still open late at night. The server, Jana, is great, very friendly and accommodating. She made the dining experience more comfortable. However the food is not that good, but it is decent. The spaghetti bolognese tastes great. Probably better than their bun cha. I'm rating the atmosphere lower because the place smelled like jackfruit when we came because the AC was on while people inside are eating jackfruit nevertheless they still packed it up when we arrived. Overall, the restaurant is decent, the price is not that expensive.

Lake view 1983 traditional vietnamese & vegan restaurant - Vietnamese restaurant in Hanoi
이 장소에 대해
Positioned along the southern bank of Hoan Kiem Lake on Hàng Khay Street, Lake View 1983 occupies one of the more coveted dining addresses in the old quarter — the kind of spot where the setting reinforces rather than distracts from the food. The 1983 in the name anchors a commitment to traditional Vietnamese cooking that predates the neighborhood's current tourist density, and the menu reflects that orientation: phở bò prepared along conventional lines, alongside a considered selection of vegan Vietnamese dishes that goes well beyond token substitutions.
The vegan offering is what distinguishes it from the dozens of pho shops within walking distance. Vietnamese plant-based cooking draws on a long temple-food tradition, and the kitchen here approaches it with the same seriousness as the meat dishes — not a workaround menu, but a parallel one. That dual focus has built a loyal crowd that spans local office workers on weekday lunches, Vietnamese families on weekend outings, and foreign visitors who want something substantive near the lake without crossing into tourist-trap territory.
With 2,807 Google reviews averaging 4.6, the consistency record is unusually strong for this part of the city, where high-traffic locations often drift on quality. The Hàng Khay address means the lake is visible from the dining room — a rarity on that stretch — and the 1983 founding year gives the place a generational weight that newer openings on the same street cannot manufacture. For a sit-down meal within reach of the Hoan Kiem circuit that works equally for omnivores and plant-based diners, it is one of the more reliable options in the district.

Really enjoyed eating here! The food was delicious, the portions were good, and everything came out fresh. The staff were super friendly and made us feel welcome. A special shoutout to Anna, who was so friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The place had a nice, relaxed vibe, with good lake view and the service was quick without feeling rushed. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'd definitely come back. Highly recommend checking it out if you're in the area!
I I ordered Banh Xeo. Vietnam has many specialties, and Banh Xeo is one of them. I had tried several in Vietnam, and I actually wanted a soup. But somehow my attention was drawn to the picture of Banh Xeo. When it arrived, I was still a bit distracted. Suddenly, a waiter named Pi was standing next to me and showed me how to eat the dish properly. I was surprised by Pi's service and attentiveness. Unfortunately, he was called away to another table and apologized for having to leave. I was also impressed by the rest of the staff and the young woman who stood in front of the restaurant inviting guests. She was rather quiet, modest, and polite, which captivated me. The dish was incredibly good! I had Banh Xeo with beef. The taste was phenomenal. With the very crispy pancake in the rice puff pastry, both the taste and the texture were a real treat!
The food was one of the best meals I've had so far in our 3 weeks in Vietnam. Zin Zin was a fantastic host. The view of the lake are lovely, the place is air-conditioned and the food is super tasty. I am vegetarian a d the meal was absolutely lovely
