On Hàng Bồ street, deep in Phố cổ Hà Nội, Viet Traditional Cuisine Restaurant holds a 4.9-star rating across nearly 4,000 Google reviews — a figure that places it among the most consistently regarded restaurants in Hoan Kiem. The address alone signals intent: Hàng Bồ runs through one of the Old Quarter's quieter commercial lanes, away from the beer street crowds around Tạ Hiện, which draws a mix of locals seeking a proper sit-down meal and visitors who have done enough research to look beyond the obvious tourist corridors.

The restaurant positions itself around traditional Vietnamese and health-conscious cooking, a combination that is less common in the Old Quarter than the density of casual phở and bún bò spots might suggest. The health food categorization points toward preparations that favor lighter broths, seasonal vegetables, and dishes that align with the older Hanoian preference for clean, herb-forward flavors over the heavier adaptations that have proliferated for tourist palates.

With no menu data available, the kitchen's specific strengths are best understood through the review volume itself: nearly 4,000 ratings at 4.9 is a signal of genuine repeat patronage, not a spike from a single viral moment. Hoan Kiem has no shortage of options at every price point, but restaurants that sustain that rating across that many reviews typically do so through consistent execution rather than novelty. The setting on a historic Old Quarter lane adds context that matters to certain diners — the street-level experience of Hàng Bồ is more residential-feeling than the surrounding tourist-heavy blocks, which shapes the pace of a meal here.

As food goes, it's hard to stand out when comparing with other Vietnamese restaurants. However, this was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The Curry Potato was delicious!

I was shocked how 1 set was served. I was the only eating but the set meal is enough for 2 person. The foods served were delicious, I would say they're traditional. I'm happy with the food and the amount of money I spent was worth it. The servers are also welcoming and genuinely happy. The food arrived in less than 5 minutes, quick service.

I ordered the minced pork and shrimps. I got informed that I maybe don’t like it. But I ordered ether way and it was delicious. Had also a very good coconut and some tasty chicken skewers. I can recommend this place.

First time to try bun cha here in Hanoi. I really liked it, it was delicious. Restaurant was also spacious and clean. And the price was also reasonable. The people there were also very helpful. The guy at the door was very welcoming and he also gave me instructions on where to see the train in train street.
