Reviews
We came here on our first day in Hanoi to try the iconic bun cha dish. We read the reviews and all seemed good but it wasn't exactly to my liking. One of our group also found a staple in their dish. The staff were apologetic and replaced his meal but it kind of soured the experience. I would like to try bun cha again, but maybe somewhere else.
This is our first proper Vietnamese meal. It was a few minute walk from Luxeden hotel. The restaurant was not busy at all and we found seating for the whole group of 6 adults and 3 kids. I can recommend the Bun Cha noodle and the rau song which had a unique taste. I wasn't the biggest fan of their stool seating arrangement because of the kids, but for solo travellers or those who are not travelling with kids will have no issues.
While we were really looking forward to dining here after reading so many positive reviews, we unfortunately left feeling disappointed by the overall experience. We came in excited and respectful, but from the moment we sat down, the service felt cold and unwelcoming. Our server approached the table without much greeting or guidance, and even after we politely asked for a little more time with the menu, the interaction still felt uncomfortable and rushed. That said, the restaurant itself was clean, comfortable, and had a nice atmosphere to sit in, which we appreciated. The food arrived quickly, and we were hoping it would make up for the experience. We ordered one of their Bún Chả combos. The grilled meat itself was smoky and flavorful, but the broth wasn’t very hot and the rest of the dish felt a bit under-seasoned overall. We love Hanoi and know there are so many incredible food experiences throughout the city, which is why this visit felt especially disappointing given the strong reviews. We’re still excited to continue exploring and hope for warmer and more memorable experiences elsewhere.
This is a bún chả restaurant in the heart of the Old Quarter. It was the first bún chả restaurant we tried in Hanoi, and it did not disappoint us. The place is quite clean and is visited by many foreigners and some locals. Overall, we never had any problems with the food. The service was fast, the food was delicious, and the price was not too high compared to the standard. I highly recommend it, and it will not disappoint you.
