MIAs restaurant - Vietnamese restaurant in Hanoi
About This Place
MIAs sits on Báo Khánh, a short street in Hoan Kiem that runs between Hoàn Kiếm Lake and the Old Quarter — the kind of address that draws both first-time visitors and returning guests who know the neighborhood well. What separates it from the cluster of Vietnamese restaurants in this district is the dual identity: a dining room and a hands-on cooking class operation under the same roof, attracting people who want more from a meal than a table and a menu.
The 4.9-star average across more than 2,600 Google reviews is unusual at that volume — scores tend to erode as review counts climb, which makes the sustained rating a signal worth noting. It suggests consistent execution rather than a single strong run of early press.
The cooking class format draws a mix of travelers and locals looking to engage with Vietnamese technique directly — understanding the balance of fish sauce, fresh herbs, and heat that defines the cuisine rather than simply ordering it. The restaurant side serves those who want the food without the lesson, in a setting that reads as purposeful rather than tourist-facing, even given the central location.
Hoan Kiem options range from street-stall bún chả counters to hotel dining rooms angling for expense-account dinners. MIAs occupies a different register — structured enough to feel like a proper sit-down, informal enough that the cooking class component doesn't feel like a gimmick. For groups traveling together, the class format also functions as an activity with a meal attached, which changes the dynamic compared to a standard restaurant booking.
Reviews
We loved MIAs so much that we came back three meals in a row! (Lunch & Dinner x2) Every single meal was amazing; everything we ordered was fresh, full of flavour, and consistently delicious. A huge shoutout to Emma, who looked after us. She was so friendly, welcoming and attentive, had so much knowledge about the menu, gave great recommendations, and had us laughing the whole time! She really went above and beyond to make the visit special, and her service was honestly one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re in the area, definitely do yourself a favour and eat here. Amazing food, fantastic service, and we’ll absolutely be back next time we’re here!
We have just had the best meal in Hanoi. We stumbled across Mia's Restaurant and decided to give them ago after seeing great reviews on Trip Advertiser. We were seated upstairs in a very authentic room. Emma was our server for the night and she was absolutely amazing. She was happy to suggest meals and drinks to us and they certainly didn't disappoint. The food was amazing and we left extremely happy.
MIAs Restaurant left us extremely satisfied. My friend had the coffee beef which was extremely tender and delicious and I had the fried squid balls with rice noodles which was hot, fresh and tasty. Dessert was also gorgeous. I had the sticky rice with yoghurt and icecream. We also sampled a few cocktails, including their summer specials which were outstanding! Special mention to the Me Ðà. Our waiter, Tom, was attentive, friendly, funny and had excellent recommendations with both food and drinks. He was knowledgeable about the menu and we could not be more happy with his service. Thank you, Mia's, for a fantastic evening!
I discovered this restaurant while staying at a nearby hotel, and it turned out to be one of the most stylish Vietnamese restaurants I have visited. Each dish was presented with high quality, beautifully decorated, and tasted absolutely delightful. I never imagined I would visit twice during my trip, but the experience was that enjoyable. The staff were also amazing, providing warm and excellent service throughout.
