The Republic - Restaurant in Hanoi

Terrace seating overlooking the lake is lovely in evening with the breeze! Nice friendly staff can communicate very well in English which is a plus. Also portions are big for a tiny asian girl 😄 couldn’t finish a serving of chicken fajitas!

Good atmosphere. I waited for the food to be served longer than the coffee. They use ultra-pasteurized milk and it made the coffee taste different. I find it hard to reverse a table via messenger when they seen my request but never reply until I ask them again. Beside from that, everything is great.

Great place, wonderful atmosphere for sports lovers. There’s a great variety of drinks and draft beers, including Guinness. The food was excellent, very tasty and beautifully presented. What really stood out was how friendly and welcoming the staff were throughout the evening. Despite having to deal with a very loud and rowdy group from the Hanoi Dragons Rugby Club who were watching a rugby match, the staff remained calm, professional and incredibly polite at all times. To be clear, this was only some individuals from the club, not everyone there. Still, there is no excuse for shouting at hospitality staff or behaving disrespectfully because you’ve had too much to drink. Credit to the staff for maintaining such a positive atmosphere despite having to deal with that behaviour.

Absolutely loved everything about our dinner at The Republic! The flavors were bold, and every dish we ordered was cooked to absolute perfection. Beyond the food, the staff is incredibly welcoming and the music sets a fantastic mood for the evening. It’s the perfect spot for a casual hangout or a proper night out with friends. Five stars all the way!

After a few days of enjoying Vietnamese cuisine, we decided it was time for a change and headed to the West Lake area for some Western food. The restaurant had a warm, familiar atmosphere that instantly reminded us of home. We ordered a carbonara and a chicken wrap—both dishes were comforting and well-executed, with flavours that felt just like what we’re used to back home. To complete the meal, we had two Hanoi beers, which were wonderfully refreshing. Hanoi, you continue to charm us.
