Barbak - West Lake - Mediterranean restaurant in Hanoi

I thoroughly enjoyed my dining experience at BarBak. The restaurant has a beautiful setup, elegant seating, and a warm, sophisticated atmosphere that makes it perfect for a fine dining experience. As a vegetarian, my only challenge was the limited choice of dishes. There were only 3–4 vegetarian options on the menu, though I understand I knew that in advance. Despite that, I had a wonderful evening. The staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming, and their hospitality made the experience even more enjoyable. The dishes I ordered were beautifully presented and full of flavor.

Visited and had lunch set with family. It is a totally different vibe which I never expected to feel, a little bit of fusion but still had that Asian flavor. The food was great from starter to dessert, and the staffs were super nice and all you have to do was just finish your dish.

​If you are looking for a sophisticated and upscale dining experience in Hanoi, this is the place to be. Everything from the pristine, brand-new interior to the smallest detail in service was handled with perfection. ​■ Atmosphere & Service The ambiance is incredibly polished. I was particularly impressed by the floral arrangements that change regularly. Tables are spaced generously apart, offering privacy. They even replace the plates and cutlery for every single course. It’s an ideal spot for a special anniversary. ​■ Lunch Set (Best Value!) While the a-la-carte menu is on the pricier side with smaller portions, the Weekday Lunch Set (299,000 VND per person) is an absolute steal. It’s perfect for a lunch meeting with friends. If you go in a group of 2-3, you can try various dishes and share. ​■ Lunch Menu Highlights - ​Starters: The Hummus is excellent. I also highly recommend the Warm Goat Cheese Salad—the balance between the soft cheese and berry jam on a small piece of bread was flawless. - ​Vegetables: The Eggplant & Tomato was bursting with juice. The Mushroom & Onion was also lovely; the onions were beautifully shaped and grilled to perfection with no harsh bitterness. - ​Mains & Sauces: The Seabass was rich and buttery. The Iberico Collar was a bit tough but still decent. Pair your meat with the Red Wine Truffle sauce; it balances the richness perfectly. - ​Dessert: You can choose between three options (all with a vanilla ice cream base). They have a creamy texture rather than a light sorbet feel. The Berry Symphony was just okay for me. ​■ A-la-carte - ​Lobster & Butternut Bisque: Incredibly smooth and clean tasting. Highly recommended. - ​Arugula Salad: The fried Camembert pairs exquisitely with the greens. The balance of ingredients and dressing shows the high caliber of the kitchen. - ​Lamb Rack: Small portion, but no gamey smell at all. A solid choice. - ​Udon Carbonara: A very unique dish with a light, thin sauce. While the udon texture was a bit unusual for a carbonara, my child loved how soft and easy it was to eat.

Lovely setting, very elegant. The menu is varied, original, and delicious. The chef clearly puts a lot of thought into the dishes. I have many favorites but am particularly fond of the lemon ganache dessert.

Last night we had dinner at Barbak in Hanoi with friends. Overall, a genuinely nice experience. The meat quality was very good, presentation carefully executed, desserts surprisingly refined, and the atmosphere had a modern yet relaxed premium feel. The team was attentive throughout the evening and you can clearly feel the ambition behind the concept. A few dishes really nice, especially the steaks (no pictures) and desserts (even the lemon was a bit too sweet for me). One small hiccup to consider before going: pricing. For a group of 6, dinner reached nearly 9M VND including a bottle of wine (~2M VND). While the quality is definitely there, some items felt aggressively priced relative to what was delivered (99k for a roasted sweet potato probably became the symbol of the evening at our table 😅).
