Bún Bò Nam Bộ Bách Phương - Noodle shop in Hanoi

Really super yummy bun bo nam bo! Bun bo nam bo is a warm noodle salad from the south made with vermicelli and marinated stir fried beef. The bowl was absolutely delicious - noodles were soft and drizzled with a super tasty broth / sauce and mixed in with fresh carrots, cucumbers, nuts and topped with tender, flavourful stir fried beef. Majority of the sauce is at the bottom so you really have to give it a mix and toss to enjoy the dish completely. Unforgettable and refreshing, you will get so much texture in one bite with the generous portion of stir fried beef plus the crunchiness of the peanuts, freshness of the vegetables and chewiness of the noodles. Definitely a must have in Hanoi and would highly recommend. There are two floors, one street level and one underground. Quite spacious for dine in by Hanoi standards. You can watch each bowl being prepared and the beef getting stir fried. The menu is rather limited but I would encourage you to try the bun bo nam bo!

We actually ate here twice during our trip because it was that good 😅 Our hotel was nearby and we kept noticing lots of people going inside, mostly locals, so we decided to try it. Later on, we realized this place was already on our “to try” list online. We ordered the beef noodle salad and fried pork rolls. I absolutely loved the beef noodle salad. It tasted really fresh and refreshing because of the lettuce, herbs, and shallots mixed with the warm beef and noodles. The flavors balanced really well and it didn’t feel too heavy even after eating a full bowl. The fried pork rolls were okay for me, but honestly not my favorite compared to the noodle salad. Price-wise, it’s really good for the quality and serving size. Not expensive at all, especially considering how popular the place is. The restaurant itself is always busy though. Lots of locals and foreigners eat here, and the turnover is super fast. Staff can come off a bit snobbish or rushed, but I honestly think it’s because they’re trying to handle so many customers at once. Don’t really expect warm service or long conversations 😅 You’ll also probably end up sharing a table with strangers because the place gets packed, especially during peak hours. It honestly adds to the authentic local experience though. Overall, definitely one of my favorite meals in Hanoi and a place I’d gladly eat at again.

Come with cash. Order beef noodles salad (extra beef of course) and fried pork rolls (the darker ones). Top it with an irrational amount of dark Vietnamese sauce and thank me later. Such an amazing typical dish in a family run small restaurant. Definitely recommend!

I came here expecting a light beef salad before lunch—but it turned out to be something much more satisfying. What I got was essentially a dry version of pho bo: tender beef, noodles, peanuts, pickled papaya, and a mix of fresh, vibrant flavors. If you love pho bo, you’ll definitely enjoy this dish—honestly, I might even like it more. Vietnam keeps surprising me in the best way. There’s always something unexpected and delicious waiting just around the corner.

Main dish was Bun Bo Nam Bo and delicious. Really the only main dish so if you don’t like it you are out of luck. Also ordered fried fermented pork rolls that we all enjoyed. Also had the coconut dumpling which was good but I would have been fine if we didn’t order it. Last but not least had a fresh guava juice which complemented the meal nicely
